dc.description	Women’s education was one of the main concerns of Colombian 19th century thinkers. Whereas traditional discourse established that women should be educated because they would become mothers, Soledad Acosta de Samper (1833-1913) and her magazine La Mujer (1878-1881) suggest an alternative education model in which they should be educated to become mothers. Appealing to the hygienist discourse, Acosta establishes that motherhood requires specific knowledge and training (and it is not intuitive) laying the foundations for women’s participation in new social spheres.	en-US
dc.description	La educación de las mujeres fue una de las principales preocupaciones de los letrados del siglo XIX colombiano. Mientras que el discurso tradicional apuntaba a que ellas debían educarse porque serían madres, Soledad Acosta de Samper (1833-1913) y los artículos de su revista La Mujer (1878-1881) proponen un modelo de educación alternativo en el que estas deberán educarse para ser madres. A partir del uso del discurso higienista, Acosta establece que la maternidad es objeto de conocimiento (y no práctica intuitiva) y con ello sienta las bases para la inclusión de las mujeres en nuevas esferas sociales.	es-ES
