The author appreciates the contribution made by the locksmith art in the urban architecture of the early twentieth century in Chile (architects Alberto Cruz Alberto Montt and Siegel, among others), noting the case of the company founded by Ponti Carlos Mine, belonging to a locksmiths Spanish family that goes back to the time of Napoleon I. Carlos Mina Ponti worked first in Chile with Italian locksmiths ─Ravanello, and Santambrogio─, and soon became independent. Company reached its zenith in the decades of 1920 and 1930, having obtained his Grand Prix at the Ibero American Exposition of Seville in 1929. With the advent of the Modern Movement and its architecture without decoration, the company concluded its activities in the late1950s.Se valora el aporte de la cerrajería artística a la arquitectura urbana de comienzos del siglo XX en Chile (arquitectos Alberto Cruz Montt y Alberto Siegel, entre otros), observando el caso de la empresa fundada por Carlos Mina Ponti, perteneciente a una familia de cerrajeros españoles que se remonta a tiempos de Napoleón I. Mina Ponti trabajó primero en Chile con cerrajeros italianos, Santambrogio y Ravanello, y pronto se independizó. Su empresa alcanzó el apogeo en las décadas de 1920 y 1930, habiendo obtenido su obra el Gran Premio en la Exposición Ibero Americana de Sevilla en 1929. Con el advenimiento del Movimiento Moderno y su arquitectura sin ornamentación, la empresa concluyó sus actividades a finales de los años 1950.
