Abstract
From the categories of ‘self-affirmation’ and ‘animal laborans’ suggested by Blumenberg and Arendt, we guess if transhumanism is somehow related to humanism. Its contextualization allows us to place this movement inside the logic of consumer capitalism and also define it as one more step into the commoditization of different spheres of life. We conclude that transhumanism indeed means something beyond humanism, if we consider the cultural and existential conditions inherited from the emancipatory modern project and its consequences in technological development and innovation.
