dc.descriptionThis work addresses the semantic evolution of constructions of the llegar y + FV type in Spanish. Taking as a point of departure their characterization as monopredicative structures, we propose that the core meaning they convey is the interruptive aspect, which can develop mirativity as a secondary value. From an empirical point of view, documentary evidence is provided which shows the deeper historical reach of uses marking an event’s abrupt occurrence, in contrast to the recent and still sporadic uses to which an unequivocal mirative value can be attributed. From a theoretical point of view, this process of change is formulated as a process of scope increase in the hierarchy of clausal operators, which appears as a common assumption to both functional (Hengeveld 2017) and formalist (Roberts 2012) approaches. Finally, our analysis shows that a single and unified core semantic value, ‘abrupt transition’, can be suggested to cover all uses of llegar y + FV. This value, depending on the hierarchical level at which it operates, can trigger either an aspectual value –if applied to states of affairs– or a mirative value –if applied to propositions, specifically, the evidence acquisition time– (Carol 2018, Lau y Rooryck 2017).en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente trabajo aborda la evolución semántica de expresiones del tipo llegar y + VF en español. Partiendo de su caracterización como estructuras monopredicativas, se propone que el valor básico que codifican es el de aspecto interruptivo, el que puede desarrollar de modo secundario un valor admirativo. Desde un punto de vista empírico, se aportan evidencias documentales que muestran la mayor profundidad histórica de los usos que expresan la ocurrencia abrupta de un evento, frente a los usos esporádicos y más recientes en los que de modo inequívoco puede apreciarse un valor admirativo no dependiente de un valor aspectual primario. Desde un punto de vista teórico, el paso de un valor a otro se formula como un proceso de aumento de alcance en la jerarquía de operadores de la cláusula, idea común en aproximaciones tanto funcionales (Hengeveld 2017) como formales (Roberts 2012) a la gramaticalización. Finalmente, el análisis muestra que puede mantenerse para las estructuras del tipo llegar y + VF un valor semántico unificado de transición abrupta que, dependiendo del nivel jerárquico en el que opera, puede desencadenar un valor bien propiamente aspectual –aplicado a un estado de cosas– bien admirativo –aplicado a la proposición–, específicamente, al tiempo de adquisición de la evidencia (Carol 2018, Lau y Rooryck 2017).es-ES
