| dc.description | Esta investigación plantea qué características definieron a una sociedad insular durante la consolidación del mundo atlántico. El objeto de estudio es la región de la Macaronesia -Canarias, Madeira, Azores y Cabo Verdeen el contexto de la agregación de Portugal a la Monarquía Hispánica. Se analiza en este trabajo los aportes a la sociedad isleña de las comunidades castellanas y portuguesas, así como la particular relación de estos moradores de las islas con el universo oceánico circundante con el objetivo de desentrañar los trazos de la identidad insular. Metodológicamente se han empleado los principios teóricos de la Nesología y de la Historia Atlántica para analizar las crónicas insulares contemporáneas al periodo. El abordaje de estos relatos se justifica por el hecho de que estos textos plasman por escrito la percepción del insular sobre la composición social de la Macaronesia y el origen atlántico de esta región. Subsidiariamente se han abordado otras fuentes primarias insulares, como las concejiles y notariales, para ahondar en la visión de los cronistas sobre su entorno. | dc.description | This research proposes what characteristics defined an island society during the consolidation of the Atlantic world. The object of study is the region of Macaronesia -the Canary Islands, Madeira, Azores and Cape Verde- in the context of the addition of Portugal to the Hispanic Monarchy. The contributions to the island society of the Castilian and Portuguese communities are analyzed in this research, as well as the relationship of these island dwellers with the surrounding oceanic universe with the aim of unraveling the traces of island identity. Methodologically, the theoretical principles of Nesology and Atlantic History have been used to analyze the insular chronicles contemporary to the period. The approach to these stories is justified by the fact that these texts reflect the insulars’ perception of the social composition of Macaronesia and the Atlantic origin of this region. To delve into the vision of the chroniclers about its surroundings, alternatively, other insular documentation such as council and notarial documents have been addressed. The purpose of this study is to define, in historical terms, the society of the Macaronesian region within the Hispanic Monarchy and the Atlantic Ocean.Keywords: Macaronesia, Chronicles, Hispanic Monarchy, Atlantic, islander. | en-US |
