| dc.description | This study deals with the barracks-house built for the Spanish ambassador in Portugal, the Count of Maceda, in 1757, through in-depth analysis of the diplomatic correspondence and a hitherto unpublished architectural design that has been found in the General Archive of Simancas. Attention is also focused on a comparative study on the location of other Hispanic Monarchy ambassadors’ temporary residences in mid-18th century Lisbon. This article unites previously unseen documents concerning the Spanish embassies at the Portuguese court during the reign of Ferdinand VI (1746-1759), and also sheds new light on the Spanish presence in the capital city before and after the 1755 earthquake.Keywords: Ambassadors’ temporary residences, mid-18th century, Lisbon, Ferdinand VI of Spain, cultural diplomacy. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este estudio se ocupa de la casa-barraca construida para el embajador de España en Portugal, el Conde de Maceda, en 1757, a través del análisis de la correspondencia diplomática y de un dibujo arquitectónico hasta ahora inédito que ha sido hallado en el Archivo General de Simancas. Esta investigación se ha centrado también en un estudio comparativo sobre la ubicación de las residencias temporales de otros embajadores de la Monarquía hispánica en la Lisboa de mediados del siglo XVIII. En este trabajo se reúne una numerosa documentación inédita sobre las embajadas de España ante la corte portuguesa durante el reinado de Fernando VI (1746-1759), y también se arroja nueva luz sobre la presencia española en la capital lusa antes y después del terremoto de 1755.Palabras clave: residencias temporales de embajadores, mediados del siglo XVIII, Lisboa, Fernando VI, diplomacia cultural. | es-ES |
