Neoliberalism has significantly reconfigured the regional scenario and social relations of production in this territory. However, this process is not completely new and actually deteriorates conditions historically developed within the capitalist framework. Therefore, we understand the system in a double dimension as both accumulating and regulating. Los Ríos Region is a fundamental territory for recognizing capitalist progress in the neoliberal phase. Such industries as the forest industry are key for understanding the neoliberal re-functionalization of productive spaces dedicated to traditional activities (i. e., agricultural and dairy), which have modified the historical dynamics of peasant communities after the advance of “neo-extractive” industries. This article analyzes from a microhistorical perspective a case study from the Mariquina community of Los Ríos Region, which has been affected by the growing and explosive development of the forest industry in the area. The methodology includes the review of the Trade and Property Registry and local press as well as in-depth interviews with farmers and other social actors involved in this process.El neoliberalismo ha reconfigurado significativamente el escenario regional y las relaciones sociales de producción que se desarrollan en este territorio. Sin embargo, esto no es completamente original, ya que agudiza condiciones desarrolladas históricamente en un marco capitalista, en la medida que se comprende el sistema en una doble dimensión; tanto de acumulación, como regulación. La Región de Los Ríos es un territorio fundamental para el conocimiento del avance capitalista en su fase neoliberal, en el sentido que industrias como la forestal, resultan claves para comprender la refuncionalización neoliberal de espacios productivos que se dedicaban a actividades tradicionales (agrícolas y lecheras) y que tras el avance de industrias extractivistas, han modificado las dinámicas históricas del habitar en comunidades campesinas. Se aborda el problema a través de un caso en perspectiva microhistórica, estudiando comunidades campesinas en la comuna de Mariquina en la Región de Los Ríos, debido al creciente y explosivo desarrollo forestal de la zona. Para ello, se recurre a la revisión del registro de comercio y propiedad; prensa local; así como entrevistas en profundidad a campesinos y otros actores involucrados en este proceso.
