Immigration to Chile has changed. From being an exporting migrant country, in the last 10 years it has become a host country. This reality brings with it the formation of new networks of social relations between locals and migrants, which are influenced by the information that each group receives about the other. In this context, the objective of this work is to know the social representations that arise from the publications made by the newspaper Diario Austral de Temuco, between 2018 and 2019, regarding immigration in La Araucanía. For this, the analysis of the factual dimension of discourse is used in 47 news items. The main results indicate that the Diario Austral de Temuco elaborates social representations of migrations as an alarming phenomenon and with a migrant subject involved in vulnerability.La inmigración hacia Chile ha cambiado. De ser un país exportador de migrantes, en los últimos 10 años se ha transformado en un país receptor de población extranjera. Esta realidad trae consigo la formación de nuevos entramados de relaciones sociales entre los locales y los migrantes, las que se ven influenciadas por la información que recibe cada grupo respecto del otro. En este contexto, el objetivo de este trabajo es conocer las representaciones sociales que surgen de las publicaciones realizadas por el Diario Austral de Temuco entre los años 2018 y 2019, respecto de la inmigración en La Araucanía. Para ello se utiliza el análisis de la dimensión factual del discurso en 47 noticias. Los principales resultados apuntan a que el Diario Austral de Temuco elabora representaciones sociales de la migración como fenómeno alarmante y con un sujeto migrante envuelto en vulnerabilidad.
