dc.descriptionThe text is the result of a collaborative investigation that reflects on the household habitation of indoor domestic workers belonging to the Mapuche people. Based on the micro-historical experience of two Mapuche women, we reflect on a mode of spatialization identified as part of a colonial continuity-the “indoor reduction”. We point out that the “reduction”, typical of the process of territorial dispossession that the Mapuche people suffered in the second half of the 19th century, is a colonial experience that structured their ways of living in the 20th century. This is even more so among Mapuche women, who were inserted product of rural-out migration in racialized networks of labor in the city of Santiago de Chile. Along the same lines, we problematize power relations from a sensitive geography, which locates domestic living as a territory crossed by negotiations and resistance. Finally, we analyze how all this is expressed in the meanings given to certain objects present in domestic living.en-US
dc.descriptionEl texto es el resultado de una investigación colaborativa que reflexiona sobre el habitar doméstico de trabajadoras de casa particular “puertas adentro” pertenecientes al pueblo mapuche. Desde la experiencia microhistórica de dos mujeres mapuche reflexionamos sobre un modo de espacialización que ubicamos como parte de las continuidades coloniales: la “reducción puertas adentro”. Señalamos que el fenómeno reduccional, propio del proceso de despojo territorial que vivió en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX el pueblo mapuche, es una experiencia colonial que estructuró sus modos de habitar en el siglo XX, y aún más en las mujeres mapuche que se insertaron producto de la migración campo-ciudad en las redes de trabajos racializados en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Junto con ello, problematizamos las relaciones de poder desde una geografía sensible, que ubica el habitar doméstico como un territorio cruzado por jerarquías, negociaciones y resistencias. Finalmente, analizamos como todo ello se expresa en las significaciones otorgadas a determinados objetos presentes en todo habitar doméstico.es-ES
