dc.description	In this article, we analyze the social construction of a neighborhood from the memory of the workers of the Linen Factory in La Unión, Los Ríos region, Chile. Based on a historiographic review from related disciplines such as human geography and urban studies, we explore the impact of industrial paternalism and how memory manages to evaluate this regime of social, economic, and political intervention. We propose that entrepreneurial action defined the ways of life and inhabiting in an industrial paternalistic fashion, but the political and social dynamics of the twentieth century modified those ways of life and inhabiting until paternalism was brought down. Based on a review of the most significant elements that are observed through participatory cartography work and individual testimonies, categories such as housing, work, celebrations and the relationship with nature are defined to explain the axes of labor memory in this neighborhood.	en-US
dc.description	El trabajo que presentamos se centra en la construcción social del barrio, analizada desde la memoria de las y los trabajadores de la Fábrica de Linos en la ciudad de La Unión, región de Los Ríos, Chile. En función de una revisión historiográfica desde disciplinas afines, como la arquitectura y los estudios urbanos, se aborda el impacto del paternalismo industrial en la comunidad, en tanto modelo de intervención social, económico y político. Proponemos, como hipótesis, que la acción empresarial definió las formas de habitar en clave paternalista industrial, pero las dinámicas políticas y sociales propias del siglo XX fueron modificando esas formas de habitar hasta clausurar el paternalismo. A partir de las fuentes y métodos como testimonios individuales y cartografías participativas, se relevan categorías como la vivienda, el trabajo, las celebraciones y la relación con la naturaleza, para explicar los ejes de la memoria obrera que definen este barrio obrero.	es-ES
