| dc.description | Especially at the end of the 20th century, an accelerated increase in urban land over traditionally rural areas has been identified around the world. This article aims at investigating the spatial dynamics of the country / city dichotomy, taking as a case study the northwest quadrant of the Metropolitan Area of Rosario, Argentina. In recent decades, the area registers a fast demographic increase and the transformation of more than 2,500 hectares of urban land. Simultaneously, Greater Rosario positions itself as Argentina’s main oilseed and by-product exporter. Its development helps understand the drivers of the accelerated increase of urban land in contemporary metropolitan areas, as well as its impacts, both on the environment and on society. | en-US |
| dc.description | Especialmente a fines del siglo XX, en diversas partes del mundo se identifica un incremento acelerado de suelo urbano sobre zonas tradicionalmente rurales. El presente artículo se propone indagar en las dinámicas espaciales de la dicotomía campo/ciudad, tomando como caso de estudio el cuadrante noroeste del Área Metropolitana de Rosario, Argentina. En décadas recientes, dicho sector registra un rápido incremento demográfico y la transformación de más de 2.500 hectáreas de suelo urbano; mientras que, simultáneamente, el Gran Rosario se posiciona como el principal exportador de oleaginosas y derivados de Argentina. Su desarrollo contribuye al conocimiento de las causas y agentes promotores del incremento acelerado de suelo urbano en las áreas metropolitanas contemporáneas, como también de sus efectos e impactos, tanto en el ambiente como en la sociedad. | es-ES |
