Se presenta la traducción del artículo Archäologisches aus Valdivia del Doctor Carlos Keller, publicado durante septiembre de 1925, en Deutsche Monatshefte für Chile, con motivo de un número dedicado a la ciudad de Valdivia (Región de Los Ríos, Chile). Para una mejor comprensión de las circunstancias en que fue escrito, se entregan antecedentes de la revista donde fue publicado y también aspectos generales de la vida del autor y su obra. El rescate de fuentes escritas que comprometen temas de interés para la arqueología, hace posible el acceso a los estudios realizados en los primeros trabajos sistemáticos de investigación en esta área del sur de Chile. Así, el objetivo fundamental de este texto es revisar los aportes de Keller para el conocimiento de las tradiciones alfareras de la zona sur de Chile a inicios del siglo XX, considerando especialmente las implicancias de sentido y significación que un proceso de traducción implica, a la vez que supone un rescate de una fuente inédita hasta la fecha, debido a la barrera idiomática.|arqueología de Valdivia, cerámica mapuche, Carlos Keller|In this article we present the translation of the article Archäologisches aus Valdivia by Doctor Carlos Keller, published during September 1925, in the journal Deutsche Monatshefte für Chile, on the occasion of an issue dedicated to Valdivia (Los Ríos Region, Chile). For a better understanding of the circumstances in which this article was written, the background of the publishing journal is described, as well as general aspects of the author's life and work. The rescue of written sources that involve topics of interest for archeology makes possible to access studies carried out in the first systematic research works in this area of southern Chile. Thus, the fundamental objective of this article is to review the contributions of Keller for the knowledge of the pottery traditions of the southern zone of Chile at the beginning of the 20th century, especially considering the implications of meaning and significance that a translation process implies, involving at the same time a rescue of an unknown source to date, due to the language barrier it presents.|Valdivia archaeology, Mapuche ceramic, Carlos Keller
