The main goal of this article is to roughly defend the reasoning followed by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the case of González Lluy v. Ecuador. The paper will be structured according to the following order: first, we will describe the facts of the case. In second and third place, we will analyse and asses the way in which the Court used, on the one hand, the argument regarding stereotypes and, on the other, the proportionality test. Next, we will consider and refute the objection regarding the use of the proportionality test based on the notion of minimum content of social rights. Finally, we will present our conclusions as a summary.Este artículo tiene el propósito de defender grosso modo el razonamiento seguido por la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos en la sentencia González Lluy con Ecuador. Nuestra exposición estará estructurada del siguiente modo: en primer lugar, se describirán los hechos del caso. En segundo y tercer lugar, se analizará y evaluará la manera en que la Corte utilizó, por un lado, el argumento relativo a estereotipos y, por el otro, el examen de proporcionalidad. Luego, se considerará y refutará aquella objeción dirigida en contra del uso del examen de proporcionalidad que se apoya en la noción de contenido mínimo de los derechos sociales. Por último, presentaremos nuestras conclusiones a modo de resumen.
