| dc.description | The right to adequate clothing can be found in several international human rights treaties, including the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The attention that has been devoted to this right since its consecration, however, is scarce. The consequence of this is a profound ignorance about its content, which is not consistent with how important clothing is in the lives of people. Attempting to contribute to the solution of this problem, this work compiles the sources of this right in international human rights law, reviews the treatment of this right by the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and other organs of the universal human rights protection system, as well as the existing doctrine on the matter; analyzes the importance of clothing considering the functions it fulfills, offers an interpretation of the right to adequate clothing and an approach to its content according to its formulation in the aforementioned Covenant, and offers a framework to determine the nature of its relation with other human rights. The crucial importance of this right will be evidenced, meriting further investigation. | en-US |
| dc.description | El derecho al vestido adecuado puede encontrarse en varios tratados internacionales de derechos humanos, entre ellos, el Pacto Internacional de Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales. La atención que se le ha dedicado a este derecho desde su enunciación es escasa. La consecuencia de ello es una profunda ignorancia sobre su contenido, lo que no se condice con la importancia que el vestido tiene en la vida de las personas. Intentando contribuir a la solución de este problema, este trabajo recopila las fuentes de este derecho en el derecho internacional de los derechos humanos, revisa el tratamiento de este derecho por parte del Comité de Derechos Económicos, Sociales y Culturales y otros órganos del sistema universal de protección a los derechos humanos, así como la doctrina existente sobre la materia; analiza la importancia del vestido considerando las funciones que cumple, ofrece una interpretación del derecho al vestido adecuado y una aproximación a su contenido según su formulación en el mencionado Pacto, y ofrece un marco para determinar la naturaleza de su relación con otros derechos humanos. Quedará evidenciada la crucial importancia de este derecho, mereciendo mayor investigación. | es-ES |
