dc.descriptionSince the signing of a peace agreement, in 1984, Chile and Argentina have increased their political and economic links. In the field of defense, the armies of both countries began a process of rapprochement favoured by the advent of democratic governments and the promotion of a set of affirmative actions known as confidence and security building measures.  At present, Chile and Argentina have established a joint peace force that will shortly be placed at the disposal of the United Nations. This initiative contributes to the region's efforts to cooperatively face regional and global security challenges in the aftermath of 11 September 2001.en-US
dc.descriptionTras la firma del Tratado de Paz y Amistad de 1984, Chile y Argentina incrementaron sus vínculos políticos y económicos. En el ámbito de la defensa se inició un acercamiento entre las Fuerzas Armadas, favorecido por la llegada al poder de gobiernos democráticos y el impulso de medidas de fomento a la Confianza y la Seguridad.  En la actualidad los dos países conforman una fuerza de paz combinada que próximamente se pondrá a disposición de las Naciones Unidas.  Esta iniciativa contribuye al esfuerzo sudamericano por enfrentar en forma conjunta los desafíos de seguridad regional y global después del 11 de septiembre del 2001.  El liderazgo civil en la defensa cumple una función fundamental para establecer mecanismos de coordinación entre ambos ministerios.es-ES
