This article is presented as one more expression of the interrelation that Chilean and Hispanic history have had since 1936, both in its international dimension and in the domestic sphere. The impact of the Spanish Civil War was of enormous magnitude, and it marked the influence of Spanish evolution in the national politics since then. The triumph of the Chilean Christian Democracy in 1964 will imply a return to the speech denouncing the Franco regime, which in fact will prove to be more symbolic than real, and a cooling of relations. But the progressive distancing of the United States and the null approach towards the countries of the European Communities, it became increasingly evident how much Spain could offer to the Christian Democratic modernization project, regardless of the nature of its regime.El presente artículo se presenta como una expresión más de la interrelación que desde 1936 han tenido la historia chilena y la hispana, tanto en su dimensión internacional como en el plano interno. El impacto de la Guerra Civil Española fue de enorme magnitud, y marcó la influencia de la evolución española en el devenir político nacional desde entonces hasta la actualidad. El triunfo de la Democracia Cristiana chilena en 1964 implicará el retorno al discurso de denuncia del régimen franquista, que en los hechos se demostrará más simbólico que real, y a un enfriamiento de las relaciones. Pero el progresivo distanciamiento de Estados Unidos y la nula aproximación hacia los países de las Comunidades Europeas, se hacía cada vez más evidente lo mucho que España podía ofrecer al proyecto de modernización democratacristiano, independientemente de la naturaleza de su régimen.
