| dc.description | For many years the international scene and, consequently, the external challenges for Chile and the rest of the countries, will be marked by the events of September 11, 2011. These represented a milestone of change in international relations and security policies: For the first time an external aggression equivalent to the outbreak of a war struck the North American continental territory; its defense policy was challenged by an unconventional terrorist threat. At the same time, the United States began to prioritize its ties with traditional allies and key powers, with a consequent decline in the importance of certain regions, based on a long-term fight against terrorism. We maintain that Chile's clear and determined support for the United States in the fight against terrorism constitutes a position of principle consistent both with our vision of the world and with the priorities for international insertion that we have chosen. | en-US |
| dc.description | Durante muchos años el escenario internacional y, por consiguiente los desafíos externos para Chile y el resto de los países, estarán marcados por los acontecimientos del 11 de septiembre de 2011. Estos representaron un hito de cambio en las relaciones internacionales y en las políticas de seguridad. Por primera vez una agresión externa equivalente al estallido de una guerra golpeó el territorio continental norteamericano; su política de defensa se vio cuestionada por una amenaza terrorista no-convencional. Paralelamente, Estados Unidos pasó a priorizar sus lazos con aliados tradicionales y potencias claves, con una consecuente declinación de la importancia de ciertas regiones, en función de una lucha antiterrorista de largo aliento. Sostenemos que el respaldo claro y decidido de Chile a Estados Unidos en la lucha contra el terrorismo constituye una posición de principios congruente tanto con nuestra visión del mundo, como con las prioridades de inserción internacional que hemos escogido. | es-ES |
