| dc.description | Although there is a dichotomy between the principles enunciated in the 1945 Charter and reality, the United Nations is the only universal mechanism for settling disputes and guaranteeing international peace. However, the new international environment requires a critical examination of its role in the past that helps it face the great challenges and makes possible the transition of humanity towards a new world order. By virtue of the foregoing, this paper offers a personal and national vision - specifically the case of Brazil, one of the founding members of the United Nations - about the future of this organization, especially in regard to the restructuring of the Security Council and the revitalization of the General Assembly. | en-US |
| dc.description | Si bien existe una dicotomía entre los principios enunciados en la Carta de 1945 y la realidad, Naciones Unidas es el único mecanismo universal para solucionar controversias y garantizar la paz internacional. Sin embargo, el nuevo entorno internacional exige realizar un examen crítico de su rol en el pasado que Ie ayude a enfrentar los grandes desafíos y posibilite el tránsito de la humanidad hacia un nuevo orden mundial. En virtud de lo anterior, en el presente trabajo se ofrece una visión personal y nacional –específicamente el caso de Brasil, uno de los miembros fundadores de Naciones Unidas– acerca del futuro de este organismo, especialmente en lo que se refiere a la reestructuración del Consejo de Seguridad y la revitalización de la Asamblea General. | es-ES |
