| dc.description | The international economic interdependence and the globalization of the markets that prevail in the world today have caused the Mexican crisis of late 1994 to affect the different industrial and developing economies. This paper addresses the characteristics of the trends in the world economy and in Latin America in light of this phenomenon. First, a balance of the year 1994 is made, emphasizing the consequences of the "tequila effect" and the need to make a deep reflection on the strategies that have been adopted in the Latin American region. | dc.description | La interdependencia económica internacional y la globalización de los mercados que hoy imperan en el mundo han hecho que la crisis mexicana de fines de 1994 repercuta sobre las diferentes economías industriales y en desarrollo. En este trabajo se abordan las características de las tendencias de la economía mundial y de América Latina a la luz de este fenómeno. Se realiza primeramente un balance del año 1994, enfatizando las consecuencias del "efecto tequila" y la necesidad de realizar una reflexión profunda sobre las estrategias que se han adoptado en la región latinoamericana.
