This paper aims to make a contribution to the analysis of the role of national regions in the formulation of foreign policy and their potential for articulation with regions of neighboring countries for these purposes, within the framework of the transformations suffered by the international system and of Latin American political strategies to face its negative consequences. By highlighting the potential for external articulation of the regions, specifically with their counterparts in neighboring countries, it seeks to offer some elements of judgment to include the issue of the participation of the regions in the Latin American debate on the strategies of political concertation, as mechanisms to achieve a growth recovery at historical rates and an improvement in the margins of autonomy and international negotiation.El presente trabajo pretende hacer un aporte al análisis sobre el papel de las regiones nacionales en la formulación de la política exterior y de su potencial de articulación con regiones de países limítrofes para estos efectos, en el marco de las transformaciones sufridas por el sistema internacional y de las estrategias políticas latinoamericanas para hacer frente a sus negativas consecuencias. Poniendo de relevancia la potencialidad de articulación externa de las regiones, específicamente con sus similares de países limítrofes, se busca ofrecer algunos elementos de juicio para incluir el tema de la participación de las regiones en el debate latinoamericano sobre las estrategias de concertación política, como mecanismos para alcanzar una recuperación del crecimiento a tasas históricas y un mejoramiento de los márgenes de autonomía y negociación internacional.
