After the overthrow of the government of Isabel Perón in March 1976, the Argentine Armed Forces took power. Its purpose was to impose an economic, political and social model that sought the profound transformation of society, for the benefit of the new dominant fractions of the great bourgeoisie. In this work, the foreign policy of the so-called National Reorganization Process is characterized, trying to identify its continuities and ruptures, with special emphasis on the policies implemented towards the United States and Latin America. We argue that the "project" of external insertion of the Argentine authoritarian regime was far from proposing substantial changes to the international statu quo and the development of a foreign policy that would tend to expand Argentine autonomy and, in a broader sense, that of the entire region.Luego del derrocamiento del gobierno de Isabel Perón en marzo de 1976, las Fuerzas Armadas argentinas tomaron el Poder. Su propósito fue imponer un modelo económico, político y social que procuraba la transformación profunda de la sociedad, en beneficio de las nuevas fracciones dominantes de la gran burguesía. En este trabajo se caracteriza la política exterior del llamado Proceso de Reorganización Nacional, intentando identificar las continuidades y rupturas de la misma, con especial énfasis en las políticas instrumentadas hacia Estados Unidos y América Latina. Sostenemos que el "proyecto" de inserción externa del régimen autoritario argentino estuvo lejos de proponerse cambios substanciales al statu quo internacional y el desarrollo de una política exterior que tendiera a ampliar la autonomía argentina y, en un sentido más amplio, la de toda la región.
