Relations between the countries of Latin America and the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have been intensifying in recent years, giving rise to a trend that already has the characteristics of being very significant. Not all Latin American countries participate in this process, which is why this article is limited to the case of the most significant, highlighting among them the linkage policy followed by Chile, which is the most advanced in this area. This cooperation process is not restricted solely to the field of commercial exchange, as it also finds important expressions in the financial sphere, in the policy of resources, in functional areas and in contemporary political situations. In this paper the main aspects of this cooperation are analyzed, including some features of its most relevant historical antecedents.Las relaciones entre los países de América Latina y los miembros de la Asociación de Naciones del Sudeste Asiático (ASEAN), han venido intensificándose en los últimos anos, dando lugar a una tendencia que tiene ya las características de ser muy significativa. No todos los países latinoamericanos participan de este proceso, razón por la cual el presente artículo se limita al caso de los más significativos, destacando entre ellos la política de vinculación seguida por Chile, que es la más avanzada en este plano. Este proceso de cooperación no se restringe únicamente al campo del intercambio comercial, pues también encuentra expresiones importantes en lo financiero, en la política de recursos, en áreas funcionales y en situaciones políticas contemporáneas. En este trabajo se analizan los principales aspectos de esta cooperación, incluyendo algunos rasgos de sus antecedentes históricos más relevantes.
