This work provides the results of empirical research on reciprocal quotations and references between the European Court and the Inter American Court of Human Rights recognized in the grounds of their decisions. The analysis of the jurisprudence of both courts clearly shows the original influence of the European Court on the Inter-American Court, but in recent years has operated an interpretiveconvergence, especially in the area of due process and serious violations of humanrights, areas on which the Inter-American Court has advanced experience. The reciprocal quotations and influences between the two courts sponsor a move towards a rich dialogue.Este trabajo tiene por objeto ofrecer el resultado de una investigación empírica sobre las referencias y citas recíprocas entre la Corte Europea y la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos reconocibles en la motivación de sus resoluciones. El análisis de la jurisprudencia de ambas cortes muestra claramente la influencia original de la Corte Europea sobre la Corte Interamericana, pero en los últimos años ha operado una convergencia interpretativa, especialmente en el ámbito del debido proceso y de violaciones graves de derechos humanos, materias en que la corte interamericana tiene avanzada experiencia. Las recíprocas citas e influencias entre ambas cortes auspician un avance hacia un diálogo enriquecedor.
