This work analyses the importance of the principie of equality and its close relations-hip with the broader concept of justice, which can be studied from different levels of analysis. Without ignoring the important differences between the two principies, which justifies a different legal treatment, this paper contributes in explaining the principie of equality in implementation of the law and the principle of equality before the law. It explains the relevance of progressing towards real or substantial equality schemes through legal regulation.    Analiza la importancia del principio de igualdad y su estrecha vinculación con el concepto más amplio de justicia, principio que puede ser estudiado desde diferentes niveles de análisis. Sin desconocer que existen diferencias relevantes que justifican un tratamiento jurídico diferenciado, avanza en la explicación del principio de igualdad en la aplicación de la ley y el principio de igualdad ante la ley. Explica la pertinencia de avanzar hacia esquemas de igualdad sustancial o real a través de la regulación jurídica.
