| dc.description | In investigating the problems inherent in the Peloponnesian War, Thucydides draws his perspective from Athens, so to speak, due to which the topic of imperialism becomes essential. This Athenian domination over the Aegean communities indicates the existence of a unified space by virtue of the exercise of this power that turned Athens into a hegemonic polis, while all the other poleis were practically transformed into dependents. In this context, the article examines the actual or metaphorical forms of enslavement exerted by Athens over the allies of the Delian League, based on the vocabulary linked to the terms andrapodismos, douleia, hypékoos and their different cognates, to the extent that Thucydides used them to describe the concrete situations of repression, as well as the symbolic representations of the mechanisms of subjugation.Keywords: Athens, imperialism, slavery, allies, dependency. | en-US |
| dc.description | Al investigar los problemas inherentes a la Guerra del Peloponeso, Tucídides traza su perspectiva desde Atenas, por así decirlo, debido a lo cual la cuestión del imperialismo deviene fundamental. Esta dominación ateniense sobre las comunidades egeas indica la existencia de un espacio unificado en virtud del ejercicio de este poderío que convirtió a Atenas en una polis hegemónica, mientras que todas las demás poleis se transformaron prácticamente en dependientes. En este contexto, el artículo examina las formas reales o metafóricas de esclavización de los aliados de la Liga Délica por parte de Atenas a partir del vocabulario ligado a los términos andrapodismós, douleía, hypékoos y sus diferentes cognados, en la medida en que Tucídides los emplea para describir las situaciones concretas de represión, así como las representaciones simbólicas de los mecanismos de sometimiento.Palabras clave: Atenas, imperialismo, esclavitud, aliados, dependencia. | es-ES |
