After a decade of intense negotiations and overcome innumerable obstacles the final step has been taken in order to the Treaty of Lisbon to enter into force in December 1,2009. The last of such obstacles, but not the least, concluded when the Czech Republic deposited the ratification instruments corresponding to that country, in Rome, depository seat of the institutional documents of the Union. This text analyzes the diferent stages that the European jurists had been profiling until define the role that the religious factor has in the legal system.Tras una década de intensas negociaciones y de superar innumerables obstáculos, se ha dado el último paso para que el Tratado de Lisboa entre en vigor el 1 de diciembre de 2009. El último de estos obstáculos, no el menor, concluyó cuando la República Checa depositólos instrumentos de ratificación correspondientes a su país, en Roma, sede depositaria de los documentos institucionales de la Unión. Este texto analiza las diferentes etapas que los juristas europeos han ido perfilando hasta definir el papel que el factor religioso tiene en su ordenamiento jurídico.
