The present essay studies the support that the Papacy give in the temporal ambit to Portugal and Castile in their expansion in Africa and Indies during the XV century. The scopes addressed here are various: the acquisition of discovered lands and the yet to discover, to exclude of the navigations to other Christian princes, to keep the peace among them and, finally, a few exceptions are presented.    El presente trabajo estudia el apoyo que en el ámbito temporal hizo el Papado a Portugal y Castilla en su expansión por África y las Indias durante el siglo xv. Varios son los ámbitos que aquí se abordan: la adquisición de las tierras descubiertas y por descubrir, excluir de las navegaciones a otros príncipes cristianos, mantener la paz entre ellos y, finalmente, se presentan algunas excepciones.
