dc.descriptionThis paper examines the environmental, socioeconomic and sociocultural dysfunctions in the coastal areas of the island and the sea of Chiloé (Chile), using a methodology based on the DPSIR model. Due to the archipelagic condition of the study area and its location in the mid-latitudes of the southern hemisphere, special attention is paid to the relationship between territorial problems and the implications of climate change. The results reflect, in terms of coastal management, a reciprocal interaction between long and medium-term structural factors that disarticulate the coastal territory and the consequences derived from climate change. However, the solutions to address these deficiencies have not been sufficient to reverse the situation and promote the preservation of the ecosystem services that are so necessary for human welfare. Considering the social context that Chile is going through and the expectations of progressing in Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) matters from the academic and legal spheres, the operational diagnosis proposed here is interesting to advance in the achievement of an Integrated Coastal Zone Management of Chiloé.en-US
dc.descriptionSe examinan las disfunciones ambientales, socioeconómicas y socioculturales de las zonas litorales de la isla y el mar de Chiloé (Chile), mediante una metodología basada en el modelo DPSIR. Dada la condición archipelágica del ámbito de estudio y su ubicación en las latitudes medias del hemisferio austral, se presta especial atención a la relación que guardan los problemas territoriales con las implicaciones del cambio climático. Los resultados reflejan, en materia de gestión litoral, una interacción recíproca entre factores estructurales de larga y media duración que desarticulan el territorio costero y las consecuencias derivadas del cambio climático. Sin embargo, las soluciones para hacer frente a estas deficiencias no han sido las suficientes para revertir la situación y promover la preservación de los servicios ecosistémicos que tan necesarios son para el bienestar humano. Considerando el contexto social que atraviesa Chile y las expectativas de progresar en materia de Gestión Integrada de Áreas Litorales (GIAL) desde el ámbito académico y legal, el diagnóstico operativo que aquí se propone resulta interesante para avanzar en la consecución de una Gestión Integrada de Áreas Litorales en Chiloé.es-ES
