Este artículo se ocupa de la agencia editorial, intelectual y social que tuvo Elvira Santa Cruz Ossa, quien -bajo el seudónimo de Roxane- consolidó una de las acciones más significativas durante la primera mitad del siglo XX: afianzar los vínculos entre el desarrollo del editorialismo infantil, el posicionamiento intelectual y crítico desde el trabajo literario y la acción concreta en beneficio de las comunidades desprotegidas en el Chile moderno. Su agencia se hace observable en dos líneas: su autoconstrucción como una ‘presencia de papel’ respaldada en su trabajo editorial, y la superación de los límites del papel hacia el campo social en donde ejerció desde sus distintas formas de subjetividad: la editora, la intelectual, la maestra y la madre, todas ellas permitieron a Roxane trazar el ‘corral’ (Montes) para la infancia chilena que fuera a su vez de protección y de apertura cultural.This article treats on the Elvira Santa Cruz Ossa’s publishing, intellectual and social agency, who worked at one of the most significant actions during the first half on the XXth century -by using ‘Roxane’ as a pseudonym-: to strengthen the bonds among children’s publishing, intellectual and critical position, from literary work and the particular action on unguarded communities’ benefit, in modern Chile. We can observe her agency in two ways: her self-construction as a ‘paper presence’ supported by her pùblishing work and the surpassing of papers’ boundaries, towards social space, where she carried out different ways of subjectivity: the publisher, the intellectual, the teacher and the mother. All of those ways allowed Roxane to draw a ‘yard’ (Montes) for chilean childhood which served as a protection and as a cultural opening.
