La comuna de Providencia y la ciudad jardín

Abstract
The comuna of Providencia develops itself from the late 1800's as a peripheral growth of Santiago. The author analizes main international features of the garden city movement, the foreign schools of thought and their relation to the postulates of the modern school of architecture. She moves on to analize in detail their influence upon four neighbourhoods developed in the comuna of Providencia between 1924 and 1934 and shows that the garden city is definitively a typology that applies to several neighbourhoods of the city and that it seems to fulfill the ambitious of a large majority of the urban dwellers. The very high frequency with which the model appears from the sixties on call for further studies to be performed in the subject.
