Abstract
The study examines from a critical perspective the presence of the harp in the religious and domestic milieu of the Chilean colonial periphery. It aims to demonstrate that the harp was performed by people belonging to different social groups –haracterized by rigid class distinctions stemming from their historical and cultural backgrounds– and that the use of the harp became a sort of a permanent link among them.
