From the mid-1960s to the 1980s, Teachers’ Folkloric groups emerged in Chiloé during a fruitful period that began to decline in the mid-90s. These groups carried out an intense cultural activity based on the social sciences and the artistic projection, reproducing a set of theoretical concepts related to folklore that were fundamental for the configuration of this cultural field in this province of the south of Chile. The objective of this work is to document, through a contextual analysis, the contribution of rural teachers in the configuration of this cultural field by approaching the genres and concepts that guided their actions. From a methodological point of view, we have worked based on bibliographic documentation, interviews and analysis of sounds and audiovisual records. The study has as horizon to collaborate in the understanding of the folkloric music’s recent history, providing a critical and comprehensive perspective.Entre mediados de la década de 1960 y hasta 1980 surgieron conjuntos folclóricos del magisterio en Chiloé. Se inauguró así un período que comenzó a declinar hacia mediados de los años noventa, período en el que estas agrupaciones realizaron una intensa actividad cultural a medio camino entre las ciencias sociales y la proyección artística, reproduciendo un conjunto de conceptos teóricos en torno al folclore que fueron fundamentales para la configuración de este campo cultural en esta provincia del sur de Chile. El objetivo es describir comprensivamente el rol de maestras y maestros normalistas en la configuración del campo cultural del folklore en Chiloé. Desde el punto de vista metodológico hemos trabajado a base de documentación bibliográfica, entrevistas y análisis de registros sonoros y audiovisuales. Este texto tiene como horizonte colaborar en la comprensión de la historia reciente de la música folclórica otorgando una perspectiva crítica y comprensiva.
