In the following article we will discuss the drama Buddha fromtwo fundamental dimensions which structure its artistic elaboration: art andBuddhism. Having this two dimensions as a starting point, we will consider someof Nikos Kazantzakis aesthetic and philosophical approaches which are exposedin Report to Greco, to show through them the meaning the topic of transcendenceacquires in his work and the implications that it may have in the material reality.Also we will analyse the dramatic construction of the two central characters,proposing that each one of them embodies a particular existential view, yet onlyone represents the ultimate meaning of existence: transcendental value which thecretan writer confers to the art and its power to transform through words.    En el siguiente artículo abordaremos el drama Buda desde dosdimensiones fundamentales que estructuran su elaboración artística: el arte yel budismo. A partir de estas, consideraremos algunos planteamientos estéticofilosóficosque expone Nikos Kazantzakis en Carta al Greco para dar cuenta delsentido que adquiere el motivo de la trascendencia en la obra y los alcances quepuede tener en la realidad material. Asimismo, nos detendremos en la construccióndramática de los dos personajes centrales y propondremos que cada uno de ellosencarna una determinada visión acerca de la existencia, pero que solo uno esportador del sentido último de esta, valor trascendental que el escritor cretense leconfiere al arte y su poder de transformación a través de la palabra.
