Abstract
The authors present a comparative analysis of the genesis, characteristics and functioning behavior of the Latinamerican metro systems, that is, those located in Buenos Aires, Caracas, México, Río de Janeiro, São Paulo and Santiago. In spite of the complexity derived from the great differences among the systems, the article concludes enumerating all relevant problems.
