dc.descriptionThis article engages the iconography known as “celestial coronation”, in which the emperor is directly crown by Christ and his angels and saints, as established in the iconographic motif of the heavenly coronation. This is a symbolic reality, which complements the factual reality of the emperor beging crowned by the Bishop that we examined in the last issue of this same Journal. The iconographic motif of the heavenly coronation is indebted to the specific iconography of the Manus Dei, which developed during Late Antiquity.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo analiza la iconografía conocida como “coronación celestial”, en el que el emperador es directamente coronado por Cristo, sus ángeles o sus santos. Esta iconografía fue introducida a finales del siglo IX con el objetivo de paliar los efectos simbólicos de la intervención eclesiástica en la ceremonia de la coronación, analizada en el artículo del número anterior. El motivo iconográfico de la “coronación celeste” es deudorade la iconografía específica de la Manus Dei, desarrollada durante la época tardoantigua.es-ES
