| dc.description | One of the first measures taken by the Greek Revolution was the abolition of slavery. According to the Constitution approved by the First National Assembly of Epidaurus, by decree of February 22, 1822, slavery was abolished. In this matter, the Revolution was a pioneer. In other European countries, abolition occurred in the mid-nineteenth century and in the Spanish colonies, the United States, and Brazil, slavery lasted until 1886, 1863, and 1888, respectively. In Cuba, one of the Philohellenes, the poet Plácido, who sang to the Greek Revolution, was shot in 1844, accused of participating in the programming of a slave rebellion. | en-US |
| dc.description | Una de las primeras medidas tomadas por la Revolución Griega fue la abolición de la esclavitud. De acuerdo con la Constitución aprobada por la Primera Asamblea Nacional de Epidauro, por decreto del 22 de febrero de 1822, la esclavitud fue abolida. En esta materia, la Revolución fue pionera. En otros países de Europa, la abolición se produjo a mediados del siglo XIX y en las colonias españolas, Estados Unidos y Brasil, la esclavitud subsistió hasta 1886, 1863 y 1888, respectivamente. En Cuba, uno de los filohelenos, el poeta Plácido, que cantó a la Revolución Griega, murió fusilado en 1844, acusado de participar en la programación de una rebelión de esclavos. | es-ES |
