dc.descriptionThe author draws a parallel between the development of the university as an institution in Europe in the late Middle Ages and its transplantation to the Indies. Bravo analizes the birth and progress of two of them, which have become the University of Chile and the University of Córdoba. Their hispanoamerican origins allowed a blossoming with baroque and modern characteristics that the author analyzes pointing out that they have marked them with their respective imprints. Various periodizations are shown which contribute to drawing parallels and underlining differences. The reader receives guidance regarding the historiographic production that has been written about Ibero-American universities and their achievements.en-US
dc.descriptionEl autor traza un paralelo entre el desarrollo de la universidad como institución en Europa en la Baja Edad Media y su transplante a las Indias. Se detiene en el nacimiento y desarrollo de dos de ellas, que han llegado a ser la Universidad de Chile y la Universidad de Córdoba, cuyos orígenes indianos permitieron un desenvolvimiento de los que sus características barroca y moderna el autor analiza en cuanto las han marcado con sus respectivas improntas. Diversas periodificaciones son mostradas las que permiten trazar paralelos y marcar diferencias. El lector recibe orientación en cuanto a la producción histriográfica que se ha escrito en torno a las universidades iberoamericanas y sus logros.es-ES
