dc.descriptionThe paper argues, referring to systems theory, that the problem of our functionally differentiated society is not lack of integration, but rather an excess of integration. When there are difficulties in one area of society, all others are forced to make serious adjustments. In dealing with threats that come from the environment, the opportunities for rationality in society lie in the maintenance and exploitation of differences, not in their elimination. This hypothesis is discussed dealing with integration on three levels: 1) the consequences of the emergency on the relationships between different fields (or functional subsystems) of society: systemic integration; 2) the effects of the pandemic on the conditions of inclusion and exclusion of individuals in society: social integration; 3) the spread of the emergency in all regions of the world and the consequences for globalization: geographical integration.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo argumenta, refiriéndose a la teoría de sistemas, que el problema de nuestra sociedad funcionalmente diferenciada no es la falta de integración, sino que el exceso de ella. Cuando existen dificultades en un área de la sociedad, todas las otras se ven forzadas a realizar importantes ajustes. Al enfrentar amenazas que vienen desde el entorno, las posibilidades de mantener la racionalidad en la sociedad yacen en la mantención y explotación de sus diferencias, no en su eliminación. Esta hipótesis es discutida considerando la integración desde tres niveles: 1) Las consecuencias de la emergencia en la relación entre los distintos ámbitos (o subsistemas funcionales) de la sociedad: integración sistémica; 2) Los efectos de la pandemia en las condiciones de inclusión y exclusión de los individuos en la sociedad: integración social; 3) La expansión de la emergencia en todas las regiones del mundo y sus consecuencias para la globalización: integración geográfica.es-ES
