dc.descriptionThe deep inequalities in Latin America require a territorial emphasis on diagnosis and policy recommendations in order to promote human and sustainable development. To contribute to this objective, a composite and multidimensional regional development index appropriate to the particular Latin American context is proposed. The index confirms: 1) the existence of large territorial development gaps; 2) a general situation of medium to low regional development; 3) a heterogeneity in the distribution between regions of the factors that favor or delay development. The index shows potential as a tool to identify specific challenges in each region and, within the framework of a multi-stakeholder and multi-level dialogue, contribute to generating impactful territorial development agendas.en-US
dc.descriptionLas grandes desigualdades de América Latina hacen necesario incorporar un énfasis territorial al diagnóstico y recomendaciones de políticas para promover el desarrollo humano y sostenible. Para contribuir a tal fin se propone un índice compuesto y multidimensional de desarrollo regional aplicable a la realidad Latinoamericana. A través del índice se constata: 1) la existencia de grandes brechas territoriales de desarrollo; 2) una situación general de desarrollo regional medio a bajo; 3) una heterogeneidad en la distribución entre regiones de los factores que favorecen o aletargan el desarrollo. El índice muestra potencial como herramienta para identificar desafíos concretos en cada región y, en el marco de un diálogo multiactor y multinivel, contribuir a generar agendas de desarrollo territorial con impacto.es-ES
