dc.descriptionThanks to the development of ICT´s over the last years, research vitrual networks represents a novel way of organizing social activities. The development of ICTs in recent years has allowed novel ways of organizing social activities, such as virtual research networks. Such networks are supported on virtual communication platforms that facilitate the coordination of geographically-dispersed actors and promotecooperation and trust among members who share a common goal: expanding the frontiers of knowledge. However, these networks also pose a number of questions related to their analysis and study. How should virtual research networks be assessed? Is it possible to use methods and criteria used to evaluate traditionalorganizations? What are the main differences between networks and organizations? This document provides answers to these questions and proposes a number of criteria for analyzing this particular type of organizational structure.en-US
dc.descriptionLas redes virtuales de investigación constituyen una forma novedosa de organizar actividades sociales, gracias al desarrollo de las TICs en los últimos años. Este tipo de redes están sostenidas en plataformas virtuales de comunicación que facilitan la coordinación de actores dispersos geográficamente, y fomentan relaciones de cooperación y confianza entre miembros que comparten un objetivo en común: expandir las fronteras del conocimiento. No obstante, estas redes también plantean una serie de interrogantes relacionadas a su análisis y estudio. ¿Cómo deben ser evaluadas las redes virtuales de investigación? ¿Es posible utilizar los métodos y criterios empleados en organizaciones tradicionales? ¿Cuáles son las diferencias principales entre redes y organizaciones? Este documento ofrece respuesta a estos interrogantes y propone una serie de criterios de análisis para evaluar este tipo particular de estructura organizacional.es-ES
