dc.descriptionThe collecting of Ancient Egyptian artifacts brought the attention of both European and Spanish-American elites during the 19th and early 20th century. In Chile, the case of the existing collection at the Pedro del Río Zañartu Museum (Bío-Bío Region), is quite particular, as it is the only one of its kind on permanent display in the country. The collector who gives the Museum its name, collected different pieces, which to this day present doubts about their provenance, form of acquisition and dating. The present study aims to approach the phenomenon of collecting at the indicated time, analyzing its context and reflecting on its formation, evidencing its heritage value from the deepening of its most iconic piece: an Egyptian mummy.en-US
dc.descriptionEl coleccionismo de piezas del Antiguo Egipto atrajo la atención tanto de élites europeas como hispanoamericanas durante los siglos XIX e inicios del XX. En Chile, el caso de la a colección existente en el Museo Pedro del Río Zañartu en Hualpén (región del Bío-Bío) es bastante particular, al ser la única de su clase en exhibición permanente en el país. El coleccionista que da nombre al Museo, acopió distintas piezas, las que hasta el día de hoy presentan dudas acerca de su procedencia, forma de adquisición y datación. El presente estudio, tiene como objeto el aproximarse al fenómeno del coleccionismo en la época señalada, analizando su contexto y reflexionando sobre su formación, evidenciando su valor patrimonial a partir de la profundización sobre una de las piezas más icónicas del museo: una momia egipcia.es-ES
