The first part of this study provides an account of the negotiations between the Chilean political players regarding the application of the Constitution of 1925 which formally established the separation of Church and State without an in-depth ideological discussion on the subjet. Chilean historians have not studied the debate and approval in Congress of a bilí to sepárate Church and State in 1884 which did involve an important ideological debate. This debate is covered in the final part of this study, showing the different positions and ideas presented by the various sectors.es-ES
