This article is positioned at the intersection of two closely related disciplines: history of education and literature studies. Using an interdisciplinary approach this paper seeks to understand how formal and informal education influenced the literary work of the Chilean poet Carlos Pezoa Véliz, specifically, regarding his relationship with education, poetry, and death, which are key themes in his biography. Moreover, the lyrical voice is described as a subject who speaks and sings on behalf of a community, thus establishing the concept of the Alma chilena, which shapes and unifies the poetic intention of the author.El presente artículo se enmarca en la conjunción de dos disciplinas estrechamente relacionadas: historia de la educación y literatura. Este enfoque interdisciplinario pretende analizar y comprender de qué forma la educación formal e informal influyó en la escritura del poeta chileno Carlos Pezoa Véliz, sobre todo en su relación con la educación, la poesía y la muerte, ejes temáticos de vital importancia en su producción literaria. Además, se describe al hablante lírico como un sujeto que habla y canta en nombre de una colectividad, estableciéndose así el concepto de alma chilena, que rige y unifica la intención de su proyecto poético.
