dc.descriptionIn the context of northern Mexico, dominated by a discourse that praises work to alienation, The Murmur of Bees (2015) by Sofia Segovia joins the critique of modernity through a demand for leisure and passion. What I am arguing here is that Simonopio, protagonist of the novel, is a sign of leisure - not laziness - since he resorts to amazement, de-proletarization and the definition of an orientation of his world. I take this conceptual framework from Josef Pieper. At the same time, following the concepts of Jorge F. Aguirre Sala, it is a sign of a prudent passion insofar as his acts give an account of a recognition of passion as judgment, as a position of the subject in the world and a symbolic mediation to interpret. This study adds to the resignification, from the Mexican narrative of the North, to the discourse of modern and industrial work.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el contexto del norte mexicano, dominado por un discurso que enaltece el trabajo hasta la alienación, El murmullo de las abejas (2015) de Sofía Segovia se suma a la crítica de la modernidad mediante la reivindicación del ocio y la pasión. Lo que aquí argumento es que Simonopio, protagonista de la novela, es signo del ocio –no pereza– puesto que recurre al asombro, la desproletarización y la definición de una orientación de su mundo. Este marco conceptual lo tomo de Josef Pieper. A la vez, siguiendo los conceptos de Jorge F. Aguirre Sala, es signo de una pasión prudente en tanto que sus actos dan cuenta de un reconocimiento de la pasión como juicio, como una posición del sujeto en el mundo y una mediación simbólica a interpretar. Este estudio se suma a la resignificación, desde la narrativa mexicana del norte, del discurso del trabajo moderno e industrial.es-ES
