dc.description	This article looks into the epoch marks in the novel La ciudad anterior (1991), by Gonzalo Contreras. The work —using a conventional narrative structure— shows the changes in the subjectivities occurred in Chilean society after the forced implementation of the neoliberal model. This is expressed in the radical signs that enroll its characters in postmodern logics, outlining individualism, psychologism, perspectivism, personalization process, emergence of an abject subject, lack of historical consciousness, among others. Therefore, the novel demonstrates an epochal record that prefigures the social, political and cultural context that will predominate in the democratical transition that is beginning at that time.	en-US
dc.description	Este artículo indaga en las marcas epocales de la novela La ciudad anterior (1991), de Gonzalo Contreras. La obra —utilizando una estructura narrativa convencional— da cuenta de los cambios en las subjetividades acaecidos en la sociedad chilena tras la implementación por la fuerza del modelo neoliberal. Esto se expresa en la radicalidad de ciertos signos que inscriben a sus personajes en lógicas posmodernas, destacando el individualismo, psicologicismo, perspectivismo, proceso de personalización, emergencia de un sujeto abyecto, carencia de conciencia histórica, entre otros. De este modo, la novela entregaría un registro de época que prefigura el contexto social, político y cultural que predominará en la transición democrática que se inicia en esos años.	es-ES
