Abstract
The article proposes a review of the urban imaginary of the novel Valpore (2009), by the writer Cristóbal Gaete, such as recreation and facing the antithesis center and periphery, hegemony and marginality, order and disorder, which stands from the city of Valparaiso. Through a narrative proposal complaint and political-social criticism, Gaete constructs an image of the marginality of Valparaiso, crossed by violence and excesses, ending setting, gradually, the destruction of the city. Este artículo estudia el imaginario urbano de la novela Valpore (2009), del escritor Cristóbal Gaete, como la recreación y el enfrentamiento de la antítesis centro y periferia, hegemonía y marginalidad, orden y desorden, que se erige de la ciudad de Valparaíso. A partir de una propuesta narrativa de denuncia y crítica político-social, Gaete construye una imagen de la marginalidad de Valparaíso que, cruzada por la violencia y los excesos, termina configurando, progresivamente, la destrucción de la urbe.
