dc.descriptionThe work of Cayetano Betancur (Copacabana, Antioquia, 1910 - Bogotá, 1982) has been related, exclusively, to philosophical exercise. Interpretations have been linked to the study of his role as a pioneer of professional and philosophical studies in Colombia, and as a political thinker and philosopher of law. His literary essayistic facet has not been considered at all by the incipient critique on Colombian essay. It is proposed to read “Sociología de las virtudes y los vicios” —“Sociology of the Virtues and Vices”—, a text that may be labeled “ensayos de interpretación” —“interpretation essays”— of national and continental character. Approaching the text, allows for a consideration of Colombian essayistic tradition. It is intended to study the representation of two important profiles in Colombian literature of the 20th century: the “bogotan” and the “antioqueño”.en-US
dc.descriptionLa obra de Cayetano Betancur (Copacabana, Antioquia, 1910 - Bogotá, 1982) ha sido relacionada, exclusivamente, con el ejercicio filosófico. Las interpretaciones lo han vinculado con su papel como precursor de los estudios filosóficos profesionales en Colombia y como pensador político y jurídico. Su faceta de ensayista literario no ha sido del todo considerada por la incipiente crítica del ensayo literario colombiano. Se propone realizar una lectura del ensayo “Sociología de las virtudes y los vicios”, texto que convendría ubicar en la categoría de “ensayos de interpretación” del ser nacional y continental. Abordar este texto permite una consideración de la tradición ensayística colombiana, ya urgente dentro de los estudios literarios, y a la vez estudiar la representación de dos perfiles psicológicos caros a los escritores colombianos del siglo XX: el bogotano y el antioqueño.es-ES
