| dc.description | The urban sprawl on rural lands generates urban-rural interface areas, characterized by the loss of historical agricultural activities and ecosystem services, spatial fragmentation, and social segregation due to how the new neighborhoods materialize. In a dryland ecosystem with limited availability of natural assets, it is essential to plan the growth of the city growth over fertile land. The objective is to investigate the figure of the agrarian park for the protection and enhancement of agricultural territories and its articulation with new residential uses. To do this, primary and secondary sources of information were analyzed along with semi-structured interviews with local actors and direct observation in fieldwork based on a case of study: the department of Guaymallén, in the province of Mendoza (Argentina). The characteristics of the case are analyzed through the analysis of the cultural landscape, and the articulation between natural and cultural factors generates a singular landscape in the urban- rural interface. The agrarian park allows the expression of social, economic, and environmental benefits for protecting and enhancing agricultural landscapes and creating complementary activities for residential uses that are established nearby. The conclusions indicate that the figure of the agrarian park is adequate to rescue the characteristics of the varied agricultural territories, besides ensuring the interaction between different uses and actors to achieve local development. | en-US |
| dc.description | La expansión acelerada de la ciudad sobre suelos rurales conforma áreas de interfaz urbano-rural caracterizadas por la pérdida de actividades agrícolas históricas y de servicios ecosistémicos, además de la fragmentación espacial y segregación social por la forma en la cual se materializan los nuevos enclaves residenciales. En el ecosistema de tierras secas, con limitada disponibilidad de bienes naturales, la planificación del crecimiento urbano sobre suelos fértiles es una tarea de primer orden. El objetivo es indagar en la figura de Parque Agrario para la protección y puesta en valor de los territorios agrícolas y su articulación con los nuevos usos residenciales. Para ello, se analizaron fuentes primarias y secundarias de información junto con entrevistas semiestructuradas a actores locales y observación directa, a partir de un caso de estudio: el departamento de Guaymallén, en la provincia de Mendoza, Argentina. A través del examen del paisaje cultural, se analizan las características del caso y la articulación entre factores naturales y culturales que generan un paisaje singular en la interfaz urbano-rural. Esta figura permite integrar beneficios sociales, económicos y ambientales con vistas a la protección y puesta en valor de la actividad agrícola amenazada por la expansión urbana, así como la creación de otras actividades de tipo complementario para los usos residenciales que se establecen en cercanía. Las conclusiones muestran que la figura de Parque Agrario es adecuada para rescatar las características propias de los diversos territorios agrícolas, además de asegurar la interacción entre diferentes usos y actores para alcanzar el desarrollo local. | es-ES |
