| dc.description | Concerns about the viability of living beings, and the match between their structures and the functional requirements to which they were subject, were not totally excluded from the Anatomical Philosophy of Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Marginally and indirectly, and more implicitly than explicitly, Geoffroy actually suggested some ideas about these issues. Ideas that can be seen as an echo of what Maupertuis and Diderot had already said in this regard in the mid-eighteenth century. This, besides serve to clarify a puzzling aspect of Geoffroy’s thought, also reveals its materialistic affiliation, relativizing his alleged links with German Naturphilosophie. | en-US |
| dc.description | La preocupación por la viabilidad de los seres vivos, y por la adecuación entre sus estructuras y las exigencias funcionales a las que ellas estaban sometidas, no quedaron totalmente excluidas de la Filosofía Anatómica de Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire. Marginal e indirectamente, y más implícitamente que explícitamente, Geoffroy llegó a sugerir algunas ideas sobre esas cuestiones. Ideas que pueden considerarse como un eco de lo que Maupertuis y Diderot ya habían dicho a ese respecto a mediados del Siglo XVIII. Esto último, además de servirnos para clarificar un punto oscuro del pensamiento de Geoffroy, también pone en evidencia su filiación materialista, relativizando su pretendida vinculación con la naturphilosophie alemana. | es-ES |
