Los diversos contextos sociopolíticos del país, han tensionado el desarrollo del Trabajo Social Chileno, pues los diferentes regímenes políticos (democráticos y dictaduras) han permeado el desarrollo de la profesión, en este escenario el Estado en sus funciones reguladoras de orden y de control social ha establecido en su marco jurídico y político normativas que han situado tanto al crecimiento como el desarrollo del país.; los diversos proyectos políticos a lo largo de la historia han permitido que el Trabajo Social se haya ido desarrollando desde diversas perspectivas: políticas, éticas y epistemológicas que han tensionado los actuales escenario de la profesión. Es importante para entender las discusiones actuales que se dan en torno a nuestra profesión reflexionar respecto de la confi guración del Trabajo Social en los diversos escenarios sociopolíticos de nuestro país, es decir, como el Estado y la Ciudadanía y sus dinámicas van tensionando a un Trabajo Social que debe situarse en los diversos escenarios emergentes y que van afectando y a su vez problematizando los desafíos éticos de la profesión, su identidad, sus formas de intervención, etc.   Various socio-political contexts of the country have interfered the development of the Chilean Social Work, and their diff erent political regimes (democracy and dictatorship) have blocked the development of the profession, in this scene the state in its regulatory functions of order and social control has established in its legal and political framework regulations that have placed both growth and development of the country. , various political projects throughout history have allowed that social work could be developed from various perspectives: political, ethical and epistemological have interfered with the current stage of the career.
